Hello everyone! I survived the first full week of school.  As you would expect I don't have any artwork to post this week. So instead, I thought I would upload some pictures of my classroom.

Students earn paint points for good behavior. When they fill their palette they get a party. 

As we learn new concepts and vocabulary I add them to the board. 

On my tables I have name plates that are made from the corner pieces you put on palettes to protect them from damage.  Then I painted them with chalk board paint. At each table there is a bucket with chalk and pieces of fabric for erasing. 

My sliding dry erase board I LOVE THEM!!!! I have one for each class and then 3rd &4th share a board. 

On the first day of school I teach my students to "Show me the Mona Lisa." Students sit up straight hands in their laps mouth closed and eyes on the teacher.

Outside my room I write a quote of the week. 

My door is decorated with tons of dots from old dot projects. 

August 20th

So I survived. First week at school a new school done, and although it was terrifying at some points scary at others ultimately it was GREAT! I love the new school and new room and I can't wait to get to know the new kids. Next week I will tell you more about whats going on in the class room. This week may be the last art upload for a while while we I mean I get into the swing of things. I hope you like the art I am really proud of these pages they turned out really well. You can see my new rug i purchased in the background shout out to Aldi only 4.99!!!!

third art journal

This is my third art journal. I actually started this during my student teaching in like 2012 while I was student teaching middle school. I was teaching the students a lesson on altered books and started this as an example. This art journal and my second I am currently working on in tandem.

Hello all this is my second post and my second art journal. Now this is interesting because my first journal was 9x9 and with a lot less pages I flew through it in a matter of months. Now when I started this one it is 9x12 and I didn't think it would matter but as soon as I started I realized the pages were taking more time ... a LOT more time. I couldn't quite figure what was different then it dawned on me the SIZE! I am currently working on this art journal as well as another you will see soon.

Here is the cover, I just added some fuzzy stickers. 

This was a coloring sheet I completed. 

Now this is an interesting page, I was playing with acrylics and decided to do a page of sphere studies. In order to get better at blending I did one then decided it took to long. Then I just painted the rest of the spheres solid. When I was done I HATED the page. I left it alone for a few days then asked myself "What do you do when you hate the  entire page?" paint over it. So I masked out the one sphere I blended then painted over it. Viola!!!   

This page was a coloring sheet mandala I cut up. I added the quote circle 

Tried to use all those little scrap pieces of paper. 

I forgot the word "were" after we. But you know what thats totally me. 

This was me finger painting with acrylics I LOVE this page.

I LOVE THIS PAGE!!!!! The owl was from a coloring book.
